曼尼托巴省以社区为中心 培养青年领袖

曼尼托巴省从2004年的时候就为培养青年人的领导力而设立了青年领袖的激励项目。该项目着力于
从学校寻找并培养社区中富有领导力的年轻人们,并期待通过这个项目创造未来的社会领导者。

[table=100%,#f5f5f5]今年是该项目开展的第八年,全省有20所学校收到了来自这个项目的基金赠款,用于培养年轻学生们的公民意识,并在课堂上反映民主问题,涉及到学生生活中相关的社区问题及各种社区规划,甚至还会培养学生参与到社区行政单位。


该项目不仅要让学生亲身参与到大型的社区组织活动中,还将要酝酿国际化的社区互动项目。在曼尼托巴省的二十所目标学校中,有10所在温尼泊区,其中有3所在温尼泊市内。

,已经向公众和曼省各地的独立学校拨款超过$13万加币。

    [li]Centre Scholaire Leo-Remillard, Division Scolaire Frano-Manitobanine – The Modern Life of Francophone Adolescents[/li]
    [li]Students will write, direct and produce a short film to portray the identity of the 21st-century francophone teenager.  [/li]
    [li]Elmwood High School, Winnipeg School Division – Taking Care of Our Waterways[/li]
    [li]Students will learn about environmental issues and participate in a cleanup project on one of the tributaries of Lake Winnipeg.  [/li]
    [li]Happy Thought School, Lord Selkirk School Division – Creation of a student council and outdoor classroom[/li]
    [li]Students will form a student council and create an outdoor classroom.  [/li]
    [li]The Infinity Program, Interlake School Division – Cookies for a Cause[/li]
    [li]Students will create a business that sells baked goods to the community to raise money for charitable organizations.  [/li]
    [li]Isaac Brock School, Winnipeg School Division – To Live As One:  The Importance of Senior-Child Relationships[/li]
    [li]Students will be involved with a local senior-assisted home and be assigned an elder buddy to interact with throughout the school year.  [/li]
    [li]Kelvin High School, Winnipeg School Division – Right to An Education Week[/li]
    [li]A student committee will raise awareness of the local and global challenges of obtaining an education and will take action through fundraising activities.  [/li]
    [li]Kildonan-East Collegiate, River East-Transcona School Division – Kildonan-East Collegiate Ambassador Program[/li]
    [li]Students will create an ambassador program to help new Canadian students feel welcome within the school’s community.  [/li]
    [li]Students will choose charitable organizations they wish to support and create proposals outlining how they wish to help their chosen organization.  [/li]
    [li]Landmark Elementary School, Hanover School Division – Grow to Give[/li]
    [li]Students will expand upon their recycling/composting initiative from the previous year by building and operating a greenhouse at their school.  [/li]
    [li]Mary Duncan School, Kelsey School Division – Moccasins From Mary[/li]
    [li]With the help of an elder, students will learn how to design and create moccasin slippers and learn about the issues facing indigenous peoples locally and globally.  [/li]
    [li]Neelin High School, Brandon School Division – Appreciating Your Region:  What’s Going On in Your Back Yard?[/li]
    [li]Students will gain a better understanding of local Aboriginal cultures through research, hands-on learning and a visit to the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.  [/li]
    [li]Norquay School, Winnipeg School Division – Gateway Industries in Point Douglas:  Past-Present-Future[/li]
    [li]Students will learn about possible land uses for the property occupied by Gateway Industries and develop a plan to present to the Point Douglas Interagency Group.[/li]
    [li]Plum Coulee School, Garden Valley School Division – Global Citizenship Project[/li]
    [li]Students will fundraise and collect materials to make blankets and school kits to donate to the Mennonite Central Committee, connect with a Japanese school that was devastated by last year’s earthquake and donate supplies to an orphanage in Mexico.[/li]
    [li]Polson School, River East-Transcona School Division – Brush Out Poverty[/li]
    [li]Students will exchange paintings with children at an orphanage in Uganda.  [/li]
    [li]Rapid City Elementary School, Rolling River – Making Community Connections[/li]
    [li]Students will work with the seniors drop-in centre and the Lions Club to make connections with senior citizens.  [/li]
    [li]Roblin Elementary School, Mountain View School Division – Brush Out Poverty[/li]
    [li]Students will exchange paintings with children at an orphanage in Africa.  These paintings will be on display at the school to raise awareness within their community.  [/li]
    [li]Sisler High School, Winnipeg School Division – Need for N.E.E.D.S.[/li]
    [li]Students will undertake a series of fundraising initiatives to raise money to provide new Canadians with school supplies while they attend school at the N.E.E.D.S. Centre (Newcomers Employment and Education Development Services Inc.).[/li]
    [li]Sister MacNamara School , Winnipeg School Division – If You’re Not From the Inner City[/li]
    [li]Students will write a book that will teach others about life in the inner city and will visit other schools to share their stories.[/li]
    [li]St. Avila School, Pembina Trails School Division – Global Connections[/li]
    [li]Students will host youth from China and will take Mandarin lessons as part of a project to expand upon their current knowledge of Chinese culture.[/li]
    [li]Stony Mountain School, Interlake School Division – A Study of Aboriginal Culture and Beliefs:  Métis, Inuit and First Nations[/li]
    [li]Students will gain a greater understanding of Aboriginal culture through a week-long celebration and will create a visual caribou hide to commemorate the highlights of their journey.  [/li]
